Effective October 14, 2026

These terms cover your use of The Work Redesign: the newsletter, and the website at matthewthorntonstudio.com. Matt Thornton writes and runs both. By subscribing, logging in or commenting, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

What The Work Redesign is

Field notes on redesigning how work gets done, written from my own experience rebuilding my business. It goes out every two weeks.

No professional advice

What I write shares my own experience and opinions. Nothing in it is legal, financial, tax or other professional advice, and reading it doesn't make you my client. Before you make a decision that matters for your business, check it against your own situation, and talk to a qualified professional where you need one. You're responsible for what you decide to do with anything you read here.

My writing and images

The essays, images and other material on the site and in the newsletter belong to me. You're welcome to quote a short passage with credit and a link back to the original. Please don't republish whole pieces, or sell or repackage them, without my written permission.

Your account

You can log in with a one-time code sent to your email, or with a password. Keep access to your email account secure, because anyone who can read it can log in as you. Tell me if you think someone else has used your account.

Comments

If you comment, keep it lawful, respectful and on topic. Don't post spam, ads, other people's private information, or anything you don't have the right to share. You keep ownership of what you write. By posting it, you let me display it on the site. I can remove any comment, or close any account that breaks these rules, at my discretion.

I sometimes link to other websites. I don't control them and I'm not responsible for their content or how they handle your information.

The site as it is

I work to keep the site and the newsletter accurate and available, but I provide them "as is". I don't guarantee they'll always be available, accurate in every detail, or up to date.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, I'm not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the site or the newsletter, or from relying on anything in them. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Leaving, and changes

You can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every email. I may change or stop the newsletter or the site at any time. If I change these terms, I'll update the date at the top. If the change matters, I'll also mention it in the newsletter. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the new terms.

Governing law

The laws of the State of Ohio, United States, govern these terms.

Privacy

The Privacy Policy explains how I handle your information.
